One of my favorite things in the world is when my husband and I sporadically decide to take off on an adventure.
One of our favorite places to go is to the mountains. Where we live, we are surrounded by hills and mountains on every side, so it isn’t too far of a trip for us.

I live for adventure, literally. I love to be outdoors whether it is at a beach, in the mountains, in a creek, basically anywhere not inside. I love to marvel at God’s creation. Being in nature reminds me of how magnificent and big our God is, and I just can’t get enough of it.
Just like I enjoy being at the on the mountain top physically, I love the mountain tops spiritually, too.
Everything is good on the mountaintops. It’s beautiful, you have a larger aerial view, and you feel like you’ve conquered the world, (especially if you reached it after a good, long hike.)
But have you ever noticed how the mountaintop is more barren, while the valley is lush and green? The valley is where the good soil lies. This is where vegetation occurs. Many people choose to live in valleys due to good soil for growing food. Good soil is essential for life. It affects our oxygen, our food, our shelter, and clothing. Without it we would not exist.

So my question to you is did you prepare for your next trip to the mountaintop?
I feel like I’ve been camping out in the valley for a while now. My prayer life isn’t what it should be, I’m dealing with a lot of issues in my heart that try to hinder me from my precious Jesus. I am not what you would picture your perfect Christian girl being. It’s not Him who has moved away, it’s been me.
So here I am, sitting in the valley with Jesus, contemplating my life.
Lord, if you hear me, where do I go from here?
Why can’t you show yourself to me?
Why did that person leave my life?
Why can’t I seem to overcome this fear?
Why do I deal with so much pain?
Many valleys are created by the river running through them, which breeds ground for the good soil.
Holy Spirit, let the river of your love flow through my spirit. I pray that my heart becomes a breeding ground for good soil. Prepare me and mold me as you see fit. Carry me through this valley. I pray you give me the strength to rely on you to by my strength and shelter.
I thank you Jesus, because I know that life is full of valleys and mountain tops. Life isn’t the straight line with a flag at the end that I thought it was. It’s a bumpy ride, but I know everything is going to be okay because I have you, and that is all I need, Lord. Thank you for loving me and pursuing me until the very end. You are so good to me even when I don’t deserve it.
If you are in the valley today, embrace where you are. When you are in the valley you are growing, it’s evident even in nature, it’s Gods design. Soon your mountaintop will come. It’s going to be beautiful, and you will feel close to God again. But don’t forget He is always with you.
This is merely a season of your life where your faith is being tested. Valleys show us the strength we never knew we had. Don’t despise your valley. You are replenishing your spirit before the next mountaintop, trust and have faith today.
