Father’s Day.
These two simple words put together can leave a sting on your heart if you are the child to a Father whose deceased or not in the picture.
Something in our hearts long for a Daddy, someone to love and protect us. The little girl inside of our grown bodies cries out for that affection, something that in an earthly sense we may not have had. Or maybe we did have that love and affection at some point. Maybe we were “Daddy’s girl” then for whatever reason he was taken from us. We wrestled with pain and anger. We asked God over and over again, “Why?”
“Why did you take my daddy?” Or, “why didn’t my daddy stick around?”
These questions tend to haunt us for years.
But I am here to tell you today that the God of the Universe loves you. We may not understand why certain things happen, but we can trust that the love of our Heavenly Father will never leave us. He loves us unconditionally. He loves us wholly. His love will never run out or leave.
Psalm 68:5 tells us that Abba is a “father to the fatherless.” He steps in to fill that gap, that point where life went totally wrong. We tend to place blame on God when bad things happen and push away the love of our Heavenly Father from our lack of understanding.
But even in the moments we blame God, His love still covers us. His banner over you and me is love. He wants to heal you and love you through the pain. He wants to give you a bright future. He wants you to rely on Him to be “Abba” in your life because one thing we can trust is that HE is the one who will never leave us.
Growing up I never knew my father. My heart felt heavy around this time of year, I just considered it another day because my heart could not understand why he chose to not be around. At a young age I gave my heart to God, and realized He was the love I was searching for. His love filled me, healed me, and renewed me. I felt the Lord walk with me. Still to this day, He loves me even on the days I am being unlovable.
That is true love. That’s the kind of love our Heavenly Father gives.
I’ll never understand why certain things have happened in my life. I’ll never understand why my dad wasn’t around. But I do understand that God longs to heal the ones of us who are broken. Psalm 27:10 says, “Even when my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will take me up.”
God loves you with an everlasting love. I pray today that you rest in His protection and love over you. His banner over you is love. I want to pray over anyone whose father isn’t in their lives today.
Heavenly Father,
I pray you just love on the fatherless today. Wrap them in your love and protection, heal all their wounds. Show them that you are their father and that you will never leave them. You have created each and every one of your children lovely and unique. They each have a purpose and you want to guide them into the light. Let them know you have a plan for them. Cover them in your love. Wrap your arms around them and bring healing. Thank you for being a father to the fatherless and for giving us unconditional love.
In Jesus name.
I love you all! I am praying for you today.
Much love,
Tiffany
