It is no secret that waiting on God’s promises for your life is one of the hardest things a person can do. Each person has their own goals, desires, wants, and needs.
When God laid “Waiting for your Boaz” on my heart, I felt like the main things He wanted me to stress to all of you beautiful women of God (and wonderful men of God) is that He has a purpose for your life, He is concerned about each area of your life, He will provide your partner, and He wants to woo and love you first.
In the story of Ruth from the Bible, Ruth wasn’t actually waiting, did you know that? She was about her business, caring for her widowed mother-in-law. She clung so tightly to the loyalty of her deceased husband, that she told her mother-in-law, Naomi that she would go wherever she went, stay wherever she stayed, and that her god would even be Ruth’s god. (Ruth 1:16)

While she was collecting Barley and working (just as we should be about the Lord’s business and focused on Him) Boaz noticed her in the field and took interest in her. She continued about her business and worked as Boaz showed her grace and kindness, but she acted when the time was right. She laid at his feet (which was custom at the time) and then later in the story Boaz takes Ruth as his wife and is called the kinsman-redeemer; in other words her lover, protector, and partner.
God is a good Father, and He knows exactly what we need, and He is willing to give it to us, but His timing is best. Here are five Bible verses that will encourage you while you are waiting on God:
1. “Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.”
This is one of my favorite Bible verses of all time. This verse is a reminder that when we are consumed in God, that we can trust that He is going to not only take care of us, but give us the very desires of our heart. Isn’t it amazing that we serve a God that not only cares about our basic needs but provides us with our desires as well? Our job is to love, serve, and trust. He will take care of the rest.
2. “Then the Lord God said,
“It is not good that the man should be alone;
I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Adam walked in the garden with God and still longed for human companionship. The desire to have a life partner and mate is a natural thing that God does not berate us for. He shaped and molded us this way and in His image. Our human nature longs to love and be loved, and that is not a sin. This verse is encouraging that if you struggle with loneliness you can find hope because God has a helper fit for you. They are in the process of preparation, just like you.
3. “Ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.”
This is a promise that whatever you ask in the name of Jesus, it will be given to you. When we bring our concerns and needs to God, He doesn’t look down on us in disapproval for asking for something. He is our Father and we are his children. He longs to bless us and wants to give us the absolute best in our lives. When we don’t feel like God is working, it doesn’t mean that He isn’t. You never see the man behind the scenes, but they are the ones holding everything together. When you feel like God is saying “No” to something you ask, you have to trust that it is not to harm you, but it is either not good for you or not time yet.
4. “Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free.
Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife.”
Why did I include this scripture? I’m glad you asked. In the beginning of 1 Corinthians 7, Paul clearly states these are not words from the mouth of the Lord, but that it is sound advice for men and women. He goes on to explain how when a man or woman are single, they are about the Lord’s business and without distraction. When they are married, they are distracted by the needs of their mate. He also states in verse 35, “I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.”
This is a good reminder to just bloom where you are planted. It isn’t a sin to get married, and it isn’t a sin to remain unmarried. Paul is giving the sound advice that you should just trust God, seek out his will, and be happy whether you are married or unmarried. God will give you everything you need, you don’t have to chase after it.
5. “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave.”
This one makes my heart flutter. How amazing is it that God feels this way for us? And He wants to bless us with a partner that loves us in the same way He loves us. He doesn’t want to give you an ordinary love, He wants to blow your mind by giving you what you deserve, a love AS STRONG AS DEATH. God is mad about us, and He longs to woo, romance, and love us.
He wants you to know that you don’t have to force anything or worry, He has got you. He has the best in mind for you, and He is putting all the beautiful pieces of your love story together right at this very moment. Trust and rejoice in God’s love you, He is going to take you places you never would have imagined. For right now dance with God, He will let the perfect one cut in, in His perfect timing.
Isn’t God good?

God’s timing is always perfect! I have my Boaz, but there are many other things that I am waiting on that God has promised…I just need to quit stressing about when those promises will be fulfilled and instead just trust in HIS timing!
